Yesterday, GAFCON did something unexpected that at first, I strongly disagreed with. This event ties in with my previous article.
Leaders of GAFCON, instead of choosing a new Anglican Archbishop to rival Apostate Canterbury, decided to form a Council instead, ostensibly composed of both Laity and Clergy.
So, evidently, there will be no new Anglican See.
The men arriving at this decision said they were led by The Holy Spirit to do so.
I wrestled with that.
I thought to myself, why would the Holy Spirit lead these men to choose a model which would seem to be ahistorical and non-canonical?
But then I realized the Spirit’s wisdom.
Even the Holy Orthodox Church will not appoint a rival Patriarch of Rome, even though the Popes are still in error. So there’s the historical precedent right there.
Also the recent example of Derek Jones and the latest Anglican schism might have been on the minds of these men. Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result is unsound and frankly insane.
Not creating a new See (where would you put it) is indeed The Spirit’s wisdom, even if these men don’t fully comprehend it.
Any new See would conflict with existing Holy Orthodox Sees, and God knows this, even if these well-intentioned men don’t.
So God is keeping GAFCON from further presumption.
More soon.
God is good, and the lover of Mankind! Glory to Thee!
